I recently made representation to have signal lights installed at the pedestrian crossing at the Star Pub in Swords:
COMHAIRLE CONTAE FHINE GALL FINGAL COUNTY COUNCIL BALBRIGGAN/SWORDS AREA COMMITTEE MEETING [Services A – Operational Matters] Thursday, 14th April 2016
ITEM NO. 65 Pedestrian Crossing Swords Village
Question: Councillor J. Newman “To ask the Chief Executive if he will arrange for the installation of signal lights or pedestrian traffic lights on Swords Main Street opposite the Star Pub. The crossing is not easily identified and pedestrians have difficulty crossing at this point due to motorists not stopping for them?”
Reply: There was a pedestrian crossing located on Main Street, Swords immediately south of the junction with Chapel Lane. This was removed several years ago to alleviate queuing in the area. The crossing is very close to an existing controlled pedestrian crossing at the junction with Bridge Street. It is not planned to reinstate a controlled pedestrian crossing at this location.
The above reply did not accurately reflect my question, I will continue to try and get some form of signalling at this crossing. Joe
