I am delighted that the All Weather pitch in River Valley gets the go ahead, I worked tirelessly towards this objective for the past four years. I was instrumental in getting the club chairmen from Rivervalley Rangers and St. Finians in front of the council officials to achieve the All Weather pitch project.
Following a request from local residents opposing the ill thought out car park, I put a motion forward to try and address this issue. Unfortunately due to lack of support from councillors I was unable to force the council to reassess the problem of parking at this location.
We must move on and accept the democratic process. I was disappointed with the flawed logic used by local councillors to prevent a comprehensive assessment of the problem with parking at this location.
Its a crying shame to see a valuable high amenity community space disappear for a car park.
