Please see below a reply to number of questions I put to Irish Water in early December 2015. I will update this section as soon as I have more info. regards Joe
Dear Councillor Newman,
Thank you for your query which you raised at the councillor clinic which was held in your area recently regarding Swords Waste Water Treatment Plant.
1. Is Swords Waste Water Treatment plant under control of Irish Water?
Swords Waste Water Treatment plant is an Irish Water asset. The plant is operated on behalf of Irish Water by Fingal County Council staff under the SLA.
2. Is upgrading works completed?
The Waste Water Treatment plant upgrade has been under construction since 2013 and will be completed before the end of 2016.
3. What is the capacity of the plant? is the plant below/over capacity?- if over what headroom is there?
The plant went from 60,000 PE (population equivalent) to 90,000 PE so there will be sufficient capacity / headroom once completed.
4. When the new Waste Water Treatment plant is constructed at Clonshaugh will Swords treatment plant still be operating at present capacity?
Swords will continue to operate at this capacity when the GDD Waste Water Treatment plant is built in Clonshaugh.
I trust that this provides you with the information you seek. Should any further queries arise, please do no hesitate to contact us.
Yours sincerely,
Clodagh Florish
